JSW Motors is setting the stage for a grand debut into India’s automotive scene. Apart from the JSW MG Motor India partnership and the signing of a MoU with Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, JSW Motors is set to emerge as a standalone automaker with manufacturing presence in the country with a production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The first vehicle from will be the Combat, which is a rugged and large SUV with a plug-in Hybrid powertrain. JSW Combat SUV Interiors, Exteriors Spied
The first-ever offering from JSW Motors, the Combat, will be based on the Chery Jetour T2. For India, it is expected to be brought in via the CBU route (Completely Built Unit). JSW Combat SUV will have a boxy silhouette, large 20-inch alloy wheels, intimidating road presence and is likely to be a popular vehicle for these attributes.
Where dimensions are concerned, JSW Combat is expected to measure close to Chery Jetour T2 at 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, 1,880 mm height and a 2,800 mm long wheelbase along with a 220 mm tall ground clearance. Seating capacity is for five adults and boot capacity is rather accommodating at 752L.

From the spy shots, we can see that JSW Combat looks butch and imposing. The squarish headlights, flat bonnet, flat fascia and the boxy silhouette with roof rails and rear tailgate mounted wheel lend it an old-school SUV appeal. It has conventional door handles, a side step large ORVMs and chunky bumpers.
Interiors Spied
On the inside, we can see a similar layout as Jetour T2, but the logo on steering wheel is camouflaged in this test mule. Attributes are expected to be similar to T2 as well. These include a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered seats with memory function for driver’s seat, ventilated seats, 12-speaker Sony system, 540-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS and more.

Same Hybrid powertrain as Jetour T2 is expected to power JSW Combat too. It is a proper PHEV setup and not another self-charging system with a dinky little battery. It comprises a 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine alongside an 18.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors driving the front wheels.
Total system output is up to 360 bhp and 610 Nm, mated to a 3-speed gearbox. Claimed pure electric range is around 90 km and total system range can go till 1,100 km. AWD with PHEV powertrain is present in some markets, but is not confirmed for India. More details will be out on launch, on 4th December.
