Maoist killed in encounter with security forces in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], October 25 (Desk): A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Budanai reserve forest area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Friday, police said.
One Maoist was killed in an encounter with SOG Teams in Kandhamal. One AK 47 rifle was seized. Further Operations in the area have been intensified. DGP congratulates Kandhmal Police, Intelligence Directorate and Operational Headquarters,” Odisha Police posted on X.
During the operation, an exchange of fire between the SOG and Naxals erupted this morning at around 9 am on Friday.

According to the Odisha Police press release, “Exchange of Fire in Kandhmal District today on dated 25.10.2024 leading to Neutralisation of one Maoist Cadre In the course of the operation, there was an exchange of Fire between SOG and Naxals today at around 9 am.”
Following the encounter by the elite Special Operation Group, the security personnel searched the area and recovered the body of a Maoist cadre along with one AK-47 rifle, the police said.
“During search of the area, body of 1 male Maoist Cadre (in uniform) along with 1 AK 47 rifle was recovered. Preliminary enquiry reveals deceased a senior ranked cadre of CPI(M) belonging to Kandhmal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh Division (KKBN division) of Maoists operating in Kandhmal district,” police added.
Further search of the area and operation is under progress. (Desk)
