Only how many MLAs attended the meeting of 80 MLAs called by Mamata Banerjee and what kind of concern did this increase in the party? What complaint has Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar made against Kalyan Banerjee to the Lok Sabha Speaker? What serious allegations did former MP Shantanu Sen and spokesperson Biswajit Deb make against the TMC leadership?
Kolkata: After the crushing defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s troubles are increasing. There are indications that everything is not well in the party. Mamta had called a meeting of 80 MLAs, but only 20 MLAs attended it. There has been a stir in the party leadership after this incident. However, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has clarified that many MLAs were at protest sites and hence could not come. It is being told that Abhishek Banerjee himself is talking to the angry MLAs. Taking a jibe at this entire matter, BJP has said that the ground is slipping from under the feet of TMC.
Internal strife in Trinamool Congress has intensified after the big defeat in the assembly elections. After the local leaders left the party, now the big leaders are also openly making statements against each other, due to which the problems of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have increased. Just yesterday, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, MP from Barasat and national president of TMC women’s wing, lodged a complaint against Shrirampur MP and senior leader Kalyan Banerjee to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The complaint states that Kalyan Banerjee continuously insults women leaders inside the Parliament. This complaint was made when Kakoli was removed from the post of Chief Whip of the party in the Lok Sabha and Kalyan Banerjee was appointed in his place. On this, Kalyan Banerjee retorted and said that this complaint has been made on someone’s instigation. Kakoli has said that she will also file a police complaint against Kalyan Banerjee.
Apart from Kakoli, former MP Shantanu Sen, who has resigned from the post of national spokesperson, also attacked the party. He clearly said that the people of Bengal have rejected TMC which is steeped in corruption. Another spokesperson, Biswajit Deb, said it would not take much time for the party to disintegrate. He also raised the question that it is difficult to believe that so much corruption took place and Mamta-Abhishek were not aware of it. At the same time, BJP is keeping a close eye on this internal conflict of TMC. It is reported that BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has already contacted the leaders who are ready to leave the party. He is visiting different districts and meeting these leaders directly.
