Majhawan By Election Result 2024 LIVE Updates: Triangular contest on Majhawan seat, know how the initial trend will be here

A very tough contest was seen in the by-election held on Majhwan Assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh. Voting took place on November 20 on this seat of Mirzapur district, one of the 403 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, and the counting of votes is going to happen a little later today.

In this by-election, Jyoti Bind is contesting on Samajwadi Party ticket, while BJP has given ticket to Suchismita Maurya to compete with her. Deepak Tiwari on BSP ticket is trying to make this fight triangular.

What was the result in 2022

Vinod Kumar Bind of Nishad Party was elected MLA from this assembly seat in the year 2022, but he was elected MP in 2024. In such a situation, by-election is now being held on the vacant seat. The most special thing in this by-election is that the daughter and daughter-in-law of senior leaders are in the fray and they were also asking for votes by appealing to the same leaders. The reputation of those leaders is also at stake in this election. Suchismita Maurya, who contested on BJP ticket, is trying to save the legacy of her father-in-law Ramchandra Maurya.

In the year 1996, Ramchandra Maurya became MLA from here on BJP ticket. Jyoti Bind, daughter of Ramesh Bind, who was elected MP from Bhadohi on BJP ticket in 2019, is in the fray on SP ticket. According to a report, caste factor is a big issue on this seat.

The number of Bind voters here is around 72 thousand. Whereas Dalits have 65 thousand votes and Brahmins have about 70 thousand votes. Similarly, the number of Yadav voters is 40 thousand, Maurya 35 thousand, Pal 20 thousand, Muslim 25 thousand and Patel voters are 22 thousand. Generally, Bind, Brahmin and Dalit votes decide the victory or defeat of any party’s candidate.

History of Majhwan seat

The first election on this seat was held in 1967 and Bechan Ram of Congress was elected MLA. However, in the elections of 1969, Ram Nihore Prasad of Bharatiya Jana Sangh became MLA from here. After this, Rudra Prasad of Congress was elected MLA from here in 1974, Shivdas Tripathi of Janata Party in 77, Lokpati Tripathi of Congress in 80 and 85.

Rudra Prasad returned on Janata Dal ticket in 1989, but Bhagwat Pal of BSP won the elections of 1991 and 93. In 1996, this seat went to BJP and Ramchandra Maurya became MLA. After this, Ramesh Chand Bind became MLA on BSP ticket in 2002 and he won the elections in 2007 and 2012 also. However, in 2017, Suchismita Maurya became MLA from here on BJP ticket. In 2022, this seat was won by Vinod Kumar Bind of Nishad Party.
