Devotees believe that even today Alha and Udal get the privilege of being the first to worship the Mother Goddess. Alha and Udal are considered to be great devotees of Mother Sharda.

It is believed that the Mother Goddess was pleased with the rigorous penance of these two and granted them immortality. Both of them are counted among great warriors.
