Mahua Moitra has been facing shocks one after the other since the case of asking questions for money. First he lost his membership of Lok Sabha. Now the Lok Sabha Housing Committee has asked Mahua Moitra to vacate the government residence. For this, the Lok Sabha Housing Committee has written a letter to the Urban Development Ministry and asked them to vacate the house allotted to Mahua. Mahua Moitra was actually allotted a house under special quota by the Ministry of Urban Development.

But Mahua Moitra seems to be in no mood to back down. She has said that she will not be afraid of expulsion, she will fight the Bharatiya Janata Party boldly. Mahua Moitra has challenged in the Supreme Court the decision to snatch away her MP membership on the basis of the Ethics Committee report. According to media reports, the upper court may hear Mahua’s petition very soon. In her petition, Mahua has said that the decision taken by the Parliament to expel her is illegal.

Why did Mahua MP leave?

Mahua Moitra is accused of asking questions on Adani Group in exchange for money and gifts. The Ethics Committee investigated these allegations. The committee based its expulsion on Hiranandani’s statements in which he had said that Mahua had taken bribe. The panel’s report was presented in the Lok Sabha on December 8 and it was voted on in Parliament on the same day. Ultimately after voting Mahua Moitra’s membership was cancelled. Mahua Moitra had called it an undemocratic decision. In the year 2019, Mahua Moitra reached the House after being elected as MP from Krishnanagar seat of West Bengal. Before being elected MP, she had been an MLA.
