JSW MG Motor India is expected to launch the Starlight 560-based SUV in India. This new SUV will likely rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. But, unlike both of its competitors, one interesting highlight of this upcoming 7-seater from MG will be the mileage it offers. Here’s an analysis of how much mileage we can expect on the MG Starlight 560-based SUV.
MG Starlight 560-based SUV: Mileage Revealed
One of the differentiating factors between this MG SUV and its rivals is the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid setup. The Starlight 560-based SUV will be MG’s first plug-in hybrid model for India, underpinned by the new ADAPT platform.
In international markets, the Starlight 560 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack. This plug-in hybrid setup delivers better mileage. For instance, the same SUV in international markets delivers an EV-only range of 125 km, while a full tank delivers a range of more than 1000km. These figures might look interesting, but we can expect this 7-seater to deliver a mileage of nearly 20-24 km/l, depending on the driving behaviour.
Compared to the other SUVs in the segment, the Starlight 560 delivers better mileage. So, it can be a good option for buyers who want a 7-seater with good mileage.
Features
The Starlight 560-based SUV will be a fairly loaded SUV in terms of features. We are expecting this new SUV to carry over the feature suite from its internationally sold model. The set of features includes: a 12.8-inch infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, powered and ventilated front seats, a six-speaker sound system, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, six airbags as standard, an electronic parking brake, ADAS, TPMS, hill-hold assist, and more in its package.
The features here might make it look less loaded as compared to the Mahindra XUV 7XO. But this could eventually help MG to price it competitively in the segment.
Expected Launch & Price
So far, MG has not revealed a specific timeline for this upcoming 7-seater SUV. As per industry sources, this new 7-seater is expected to launch later this month. Apart from that, we expect MG to price this new SUV somewhere around Rs. 18 lakh – Rs. 28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
