A tragic incident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar saw an 18-year-old boy fall from a hill following a dispute over an iPhone. His parents also tragically died in a desperate attempt to save him, leading to the loss of the entire family. The harrowing event unfolded after a three-hour standoff and was witnessed by locals.
A shocking and distressing incident took place in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), where an 18-year-old boy fell from a hill reportedly during a tense three-hour standoff, leading to the tragic deaths of both his parents in an alleged desperate rescue attempt.
In a video that went viral on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), the boy and his father were seen suddenly falling from the edge as onlookers watched in sheer horror. A little earlier, the teenager’s mother had also plunged from the hill while attempting to rescue her son and husband, who had reportedly rushed towards the edge in panic as the tragedy unfolded.
The distressing incident was witnessed by numerous locals and tourists, some of whom captured the harrowing ordeal on their mobile phones. This reportedly took place at Khavda Hill, located in the Tisgoan area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.

How Did the Tragic Incident Unfold?
The tragedy in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar unfolded not just as a momentary accident, but reportedly after a tense three-hour ordeal, when a boy reached the edge of Khavda Hill around 10 am on Friday and threatened to take his own life.
According to reports, the teenager made a suicide threat by standing at the edge of the hill, triggered by a family dispute over a reported demand for an expensive iPhone. The standoff began at 10 am when the youth reached the location and began warning onlookers and family members that he would jump if anyone approached him.

For three hours, the teenager’s parents, locals, fire brigade officials, and Waluj police reportedly tried every possible way to persuade him and step back from taking the extreme step. Still, all their efforts unfortunately ended in vain. Seeing his son approach the cliff, the father rushed forward and attempted to grab him to pull him back to safety, but both lost their balance and plunged from the hilltop, resulting in fatal injuries to both.
Panicked and traumatised by the horrifying sight, the mother stepped off the cliff moments later and fell to her death. The entire family of three was wiped out in the heartbreaking tragedy, leaving local authorities and community members in deep shock.

According to local reports, the authorities had recovered their bodies from the base of the cliff and transferred them to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examinations, while police registered a case to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Demand for an iPhone Ended in Tragedy
The teenager, who was identified as Kunal Chandgude, reportedly demanded a new iPhone from his father, who worked as a driver, but was unable to fulfill the expensive request due to the family’s financial limitations.
Since his father, Muralidhar, could not afford to buy an iPhone for his son due to their financial constraints, the 18-year-old became deeply upset and immediately rushed to the Khavda Hill area to carry out his threat, setting off the tragic chain of events.
“The family was caught between the son’s desire and its financial limitations, and the tension eventually turned into a matter of life and death.” Waluj police inspector Rameshwar Gade said, as quoted in India Today.
Despite attempts to prevent him from taking extreme steps, the situation escalated rapidly, culminating in the heartbreaking loss of the entire family. According to the police authorities, an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deaths.
