BJP candidate defeated Chavan
In the assembly elections, Prithviraj Chavan also contested from Karad South seat. However, he also had to face defeat. BJP candidate Atul Bhosale defeated him by a margin of 39,355 votes. He said that he was expected to win the Karad South seat of Satara district by 5,000 to 6,000 votes, but it did not happen. All the candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi lost in the district by a margin of about 40,000 votes. Chavan said that in the 1977 Lok Sabha elections, Congress had got 20 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, which was the lowest. At the same time, this time the party has had its worst performance in the assembly elections so far, it is a shocking defeat.

Won 230 seats. In the elections, BJP won 132 seats, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) 57 and NCP (Ajit Pawar) 41 seats. At the same time, Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was reduced to 46 seats. In this, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) got 20 seats, Congress 16 and NCP (Sharad Pawar) 10 seats. Samajwadi Party won on 2 seats.
