The results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections will come today. Results of by-elections held on 48 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats of 15 states will also be announced. In this, votes were cast on 9 assembly seats of UP on 20 November. Counting of postal ballots will start from 8 am. Counting of votes from EVMs will start from 8:30 am. All preparations for counting of votes have been completed. Surveillance will be done through CCTV cameras from the control room. Adequate police force has been deployed at all places. Along with the results of the assembly elections, everyone’s eyes are also on Nanded seats in Maharashtra and Wayanad seats in Kerala. Congress has fielded Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad. This seat became vacant after the resignation of Rahul Gandhi.
Talking about Maharashtra elections, voting was held in one phase on 20th November for 288 assembly seats of the state. There are 234 general seats in the state. 29 seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and 25 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe. This election was held between the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition alliance Mahavikas Aghadi. The grand alliance includes Bharatiya Janata Party, Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena and NCP. Mahavikas Aghadi consists of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s party.

Voting was held in 2 phases in Jharkhand
Voting was held in two phases for 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand. In the first phase, voting was held on 43 seats on 13 November and in the second phase on 20 November, voting was held on 38 seats. BJP had emerged as the largest party in the 2014 assembly elections. He had won 37 seats. Congress had to be satisfied with only 6 seats. Whereas Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had won 19 seats in the state.

UP assembly elections
Voting for by-elections on 9 assembly seats of UP was held on 20 November. The seats where voting took place include Meerapur in Muzaffarnagar, Kundarki in Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Khair in Aligarh, Karhal in Mainpuri, Sisamau in Kanpur city, Phulpur in Prayagraj, Katehri in Ambedkar Nagar and Majhwan seat in Mirzapur. Actually, the results of these elections are not going to have any direct impact on the Yogi government in the Assembly. But, considering the competition from the opposition in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the results of these seats will be very important for the NDA and especially the BJP.
There are 90 candidates in the fray for 9 seats in the by-election. There are 11 women candidates in this. Maximum 14 candidates are in the fray from Ghaziabad seat and least 5 candidates each from Khair and Sisamau. In the 2022 assembly elections, BJP had captured Ghaziabad Sadar, Khair and Phulpur seats. NDA’s ally Nishad Party had won from Majhwan. SP had won Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari and Sisamau seats. Meerapur seat was won by RLD (RLD), then an ally of SP, which is now part of NDA.

Apart from UP, 7 in Rajasthan, 6 in West Bengal, 5 in Assam, 4 each in Bihar and Punjab, 3 in Karnataka, 2 each in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, two in Sikkim, 1 in Gujarat, one in Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh. By-elections were held on one seat in Uttar Pradesh and one in Meghalaya.
