The tenure of the current Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26. Mahayuti has got full majority in Maharashtra Assembly elections, but when will the new government be formed? Questions are being raised regarding this. Mahayuti has won 236 out of total 288 assembly seats. BJP has won 132 seats, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has won 57 seats and NCP has won 41 seats. Apart from this, with the support of independents and small parties, Mahayuti has the strength of 236 seats. According to sources, the government will be formed without any haste and appropriate decisions will be taken as Mahayuti has got full majority.
But when will the new government be formed and who will be the next CM? There is silence on this. Sources say that the leaders of the three parties will hold a meeting and after that the central leadership will take a decision on the post of CM.
No obligation to form government till 26th November
Sources say that the government will be formed in Maharashtra by November 30. A final decision will be taken by next weekend. The Governor has taken the opinion of the Attorney General and some other legal experts. There is no obligation on the Governor to ensure government formation before November 26. In the past, such an example has been seen that the government was formed 11 days after the end of the government’s tenure.
According to sources, the government will be formed by taking appropriate decisions without haste as the Grand Alliance has got full majority. Although the tenure of this government is ending on 26th, but Eknath Shinde will take charge as the acting Chief Minister of the state. By then, after completion of discussions in the state and the Centre, there is a possibility of government formation in 28 to 30 days.
The decision will be taken with the consent of the central leadership
Shiv Sena officials and newly elected MLAs have given full authority to Eknath Shinde to take decisions of his party. Eknath Shinde was elected leader of the newly elected MLAs of Shiv Sena. NCP has also elected Ajit Pawar as the group leader of the party. BJP needs a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, which has not taken place yet. After this, there is to be a meeting of the three major leaders of the state and Amit Shah, in which the Chief Minister and 2 Deputy Chief Ministers will be elected, after which these three swearing-in ceremonies will be held for the first time in the state.
There will be a meeting between Shinde, Fadnavis and Pawar regarding the remaining members of the cabinet and if necessary, a meeting will also be held with Amit Shah, after which the remaining members of the cabinet will be expanded.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Election Commission chief M. Chokkalingam has submitted the list of MLAs who won in 288 assembly constituencies after meeting Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan.
