Maharashtra assembly election 2024: Today there is voting for assembly elections on 288 seats of Maharashtra. The reputation of many veterans is at stake in this. Counting of votes will take place on November 23. NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are trying hard to get people’s votes for their respective parties.
In Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar’s NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Uddhav’s Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Congress are part of the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). At the same time, apart from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling alliance includes Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
BJP is contesting on 149 seats in Maharashtra, while Shiv Sena has fielded its candidates on 81 and NCP on 59 seats. Whereas, Congress is trying its luck on 101 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) on 95 and NCP (SP) on 86 seats. Both factions of Shiv Sena are face to face on 50 seats. At the same time, rival factions of NCP have fielded candidates against each other on 37 seats.
