Mahakal Bhasma Aarti 22 June 2026: Divine Bhasma Aarti of Lord Mahakal took place in the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in the early hours of Monday (22 June 2026) in Brahma Muhurta. As soon as the doors of the temple opened at 4 in the morning, the worship started with Vedic chanting and religious rituals. The priests first worshiped all the deities present in the sanctum sanctorum, after which Lord Mahakal was anointed with holy water.

After the consecration, special worship of Lord Mahakal was done with Panchamrit made from milk, curd, ghee, sugar and juice of various fruits. Amidst chanting of mantras and blowing of conch shells, supernatural adornment of the Lord was done. Jatadhari Baba Mahakal was decorated in the form of a king by offering silver ornaments, due to which his divine form appeared very attractive.
Before the beginning of Bhasma Aarti, with the sound of the first bell, the priests meditated on the Lord and offered holy water. After this, Kapoor Aarti was performed and special makeup was done by offering hemp, sandalwood and Tripund on the forehead of the Lord. After the adornment was complete, the Jyotirlinga was covered with a cloth and ashes were burnt as per tradition.

On behalf of Mahanirvani Akhara, sacred ashes were offered to Lord Mahakal. After offering ashes, the Lord was decorated with silver Sheshnag crown, Mundamaal, Rudraksh garlands and fragrant flowers. The beautiful makeup done with Mogra, roses and other fragrant flowers made the appearance of Lord Mahakal even more divine.

After this, various fruits, sweets and naivedya were offered to the Lord. A large number of devotees from India and abroad participated in the Bhasma Aarti and felt blessed after having the darshan of Baba Mahakal.
