Madurai: Devotees wishing to participate in the Divine Wedding ceremony of Meenakshi and Sundareswarar at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple can make reservations online or in person between April 19 and April 22. The Chithirai Festival, celebrated annually with great grandeur, is one of the major spiritual events in Tamil Nadu.

This year’s Chithirai Festival is set to commence on April 19 with the ceremonial flag-hoisting (Kodiyettram). Following a series of various rituals and festivities, the highlight of the festival—the Divine Wedding of Meenakshi and Sundareswarar—will take place on April 28.

Ticket booking details

The temple administration has announced that arrangements have been made for devotees wishing to attend the Divine Wedding ceremony to book paid entry tickets. Reservations will be available from April 19 through April 22. Tickets are being offered in two price categories: ₹200 and ₹500, allowing devotees to select according to their preference and convenience.

Devotees may register online through the official websites designated by the temple administration, enabling them to secure their tickets quickly and easily from the comfort of their homes. Alternatively, individuals unable to make reservations online may book their tickets in person by visiting the Birla Guest House, which is owned by the Madurai Temple.

The Madurai Chithirai Thiruvizha is scheduled to take place from April 19 to May 5, 2026. The festival celebrates the divine marriage of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar, followed by the grand entry of Lord Kallalagar into the Vaigai River.
