Another big step has been taken towards establishing Madhya Pradesh as the emerging industrial center of the country. The efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav are now visible on the ground. Global consumer healthcare company Helion has chosen Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh to set up its first manufacturing unit in India. The symbolic Bhoomi Pujan of this project was performed by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav through virtual medium. This project with an investment of about Rs 2 thousand crore will not only give a new identity to the industrial capacity of the state but will also create employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
“India is no longer just a market, but also a global production center”
Addressing the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has today made a strong identity in the world as the “Pharmacy of the World”. The world is now looking at India not just as a consumer market but as a reliable manufacturing hub and global supply chain partner. He said that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly entering a new era of investment, industry and employment and the state is writing a new chapter of economic development.

Why did Helion choose Madhya Pradesh?
The Chief Minister said that a global company like Helion choosing Madhya Pradesh for its first production unit in India is a proof of the growing confidence in the state’s industrial policies and investment-friendly environment. He assured the investors that the government will provide full support at every level, from setting up the industry to starting production. The Chief Minister said that the trust of investors is the biggest asset of Madhya Pradesh.
1000 people will get employment
Helion’s new manufacturing unit is expected to provide direct and indirect employment to about 1000 people. The special thing is that the company has set a target of providing employment to about 30 percent women in its plant. Describing this as an important step towards women empowerment, the Chief Minister said that this will strengthen social participation along with new employment opportunities in the state.
Target to increase investment from Rs 2 thousand crore to Rs 2 lakh crore
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that at present the company has invested about Rs 2 thousand crores in the state. The government will endeavor to increase this investment to Rs 2 lakh crore in future. He also gave an open invitation to other national and international investors to invest in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh is becoming stronger in pharma sector
The Chief Minister said that India is the third largest pharma producing country in the world in terms of quantity. At present, more than 300 pharma companies and more than 30 API and bulk drugs manufacturers are active in Madhya Pradesh. Medicines manufactured in the state are being exported to many countries in America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. The share of pharma sector in the total exports of the state has reached about 20 percent. Industrial areas like Indore, Pithampur, Mandideep, Bhopal, Dewas and Ujjain are now rapidly developing as pharma manufacturing clusters.
What did Helion’s CEO say?
In the program, Helion CEO Brian said that India is among the fastest growing economies of the world and Madhya Pradesh is one of the fastest growing states of India. He said that the company has invested about 175 million pounds in the state and the unit located at Pithampur will be further expanded in future. Lele, President of the Indian subcontinent of the company, said that South Asia’s largest Helion plant is being established in Madhya Pradesh. This unit, to be developed in an area of about 40 acres, will be among the largest production units in the company’s global supply chain.

Helion is one of the world’s leading consumer healthcare companies, with a presence in more than 170 countries. The company manufactures products like Oral Health, Pain Relief, Digestive Health, Respiratory and Vitamins-Supplements. This unit to be built in the Smart Industrial Park of Pithampur will mainly focus on the manufacturing of oral health products. The products made here will be exported to India as well as to Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and African countries.
