In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, the lives of two employees were in danger due to the negligence of Jalkal Nigam. During the ongoing cleaning work in Wazirganj area, two employees died of suffocation after falling into a 20 feet deep sewer without safety. After about two hours of hard work, the fire brigade team pulled out both the employees in an unconscious state, one of whom died on the spot, while the other died during treatment in the hospital.
The whole matter is in front of the Residency Park located in Wazirganj police station area, where two employees of Jalkal Nigam had come down to work in a 20 feet deep sewer. According to local people, both the sanitation workers were working without safety equipment. During this time an accident happened. One employee died on the spot due to suffocation due to poisonous gas, while the other employee was referred to Balrampur Hospital in critical condition, where he also died during treatment.
A week ago the child died after falling into the sewer.
The Water Department had given the work of sewerage improvement to the private company M/s KK Spun, due to whose negligence two employees died. Even before this, in the last one week, a child had died after falling into the sewer line while an employee was at work. The biggest thing is that such a big incident had happened recently. Even after that, those responsible did not take any notice. Jalkal’s gross negligence has come to light in the entire matter.
Chief Fire Officer gave information
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Mangesh Kumar said that information was received through the control room that two employees from Jalkal Nigam were descending to clean the main hole on the main road in front of the Residency. During this time both of them became unconscious. On receiving the information, immediately the fire brigade and the rescue team of the Municipal Corporation reached the spot and pulled out the unconscious employees from inside the sewer. Both were sent to Trauma Center and Balrampur Hospital, where both were declared dead by the doctors.

The names of the two employees who died are Sovran Yadav son of Shivdin Yadav (56) and Sushil Yadav son of Sobran Yadav (28). Both are father and son and are residents of Sarwarpur village in Sitapur district. The police have taken the bodies of both of them in their custody and sent them for post-mortem. Regarding the accident, Managing Director of Urban Jal Nigam Rakesh Kumar Mishra said that both the employees had got down without any information. The responsible engineers have been asked to be suspended. A case will also be filed against M/s KK Spun Company.
