LPG Cylinder New Rules: If you also get Indane, HP or Bharat Gas cylinder at your home, then there is very important news for you. Today, from June 1, 2026, some big and strict rules regarding LPG have come into effect in the country. There are many rumors floating on social media regarding cylinder booking days, but the government has released the list of real rules. In such a situation, it is important that you know which rules have changed, which have not changed, which people need to be most careful and due to which mistakes people’s existing gas connections can be closed forever. Let us know what is going to be the impact on cylinder booking from today…
Cylinder refill rules did not change
First of all, let us clear up a rumor going on on social media. It was being claimed at many places that the government was changing the days for booking the cylinder (like a gap of 25 or 35 days). The Petroleum Ministry has made it clear that there has been no change in the rules for refilling domestic LPG cylinders. The old rules will remain applicable. The rule of 25 days for cylinder re-booking in rural (village) areas will remain the same as before. The old rule of 45 days will continue for cities. Therefore, do not believe any rumor regarding the days.
These 5 big changes regarding LPG came into effect today from June 1
1. Due to this your LPG connection will be cut
If piped gas (PNG) facility has come in your area and you have not left the cylinder yet, then it may be difficult for you. The government had given an order in March under which people in areas with PNG facility had to shift to piped gas within 3 months. Its deadline is ending in June. If you do not shift, your old LPG connection may get blocked or disconnected automatically.
2. One Household, One Connection
Government oil companies are now working strictly on the policy of ‘one house, one gas’. Companies have started identifying such customers who have both LPG cylinder and piped PNG gas running in their homes. Such people are being sent messages asking them to surrender their old LPG connections so that black marketing of gas can be stopped.
3. Prohibition on new connections or refills
If you already have a PNG connection, you will not be able to get a new LPG cylinder connection from any company. Not only this, such customers will not even get the facility to refill the cylinder. This step has been taken to overcome the shortage of gas in the country.
4. Only 30 days after receiving PNG
Recently, the government has also given relief by making some changes in the rules. According to the new rule, as soon as piped natural gas (PNG) is switched on in your house, you will get 30 days to close your old LPG connection. However, if the need arises in future, you will be able to get this connection restarted.
5. Gas cylinder will not be available without OTP
Now, to make gas delivery completely transparent, OTP based delivery has been made mandatory. Whenever the delivery boy brings the cylinder to your home, a code (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. The cylinder will be handed over to you only after giving that code. Additionally, the government is now promoting digital and online booking (like through apps or websites) so that you don’t have to stand in long queues.
