The facts revealed in the review of why BJP lost in Jharkhand have left senior leaders of the party in shock. All the candidates have submitted their reports to National Organization General Secretary BL Santosh regarding the review meeting of the defeat in Ranchi. Most of the leaders who came to attend the meeting have blamed their own people for the defeat.
Our own people looted, where did the strangers have any strength?
BJP had given ticket to Nirbhay Shahabadi from Giridih. Shahabadi lost this election to JMM’s Sudivya Sonu by about 4 thousand votes. Shahabadi, who came to Ranchi after the defeat, has given his report to the high command. When journalists asked questions to Shahabadi, his answer was – I was robbed by my own people, where did strangers have the strength…Now the search is on for my own people from Ranchi to Giridih.
This is the reason for Narayan Das who lost the election from Deoghar. Das has been defeated by RJD’s Suresh Paswan in the elections. Deoghar is an urban seat and is considered a stronghold of BJP. Narayan Das, who came to Ranchi, also blamed the violence for the defeat.
Das says that this is a safe seat, but because of my own people I lost the election. Godda candidate Amit Kumar Mandal and Madhupur candidate Ganga Narayan Singh are also making similar arguments.
All these leaders say that infighting has been more responsible for the defeat than Hemant and his plans.
CP Singh said – scissors have worked
Ranchi’s prominent leader and MLA CP Singh also attended the review meeting. While talking to the journalists, Singh said that we lost because of the Mayiya Samman Yojana. The scissors also worked, hence had to suffer loss.
Singh was targeting Jairam Mahato with scissors. In this election of Jharkhand, Jairam Mahato’s party caused losses to BJP on many seats in Chhota Nagpur area.
Anant Ojha, the candidate from Rajmahal who came to participate in the review meeting, said that he lost the election because of infiltrators. In this election of Jharkhand, BJP had made infiltration a big issue.
Performance of MPs also bad
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 8 seats and AJSU won one seat. BJP alone had got lead on 51 assembly seats, but in the assembly elections held just 5 months later, BJP was reduced to 21 seats. Many MPs who reached Parliament after winning on BJP symbol 5 months ago also could not perform well.
For example, there are a total of 6 assembly seats in Godda. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had got lead on 4 seats here, but in the assembly elections the party could win only one seat.
Similarly, MP Dhullu Mahato had won a big victory in Dhanbad. They had got lead on 6 assembly seats, but BJP could win only 2 seats of Dhanbad in the assembly elections.
Ranchi MP and Union Minister Sanjay Seth also could not perform well. In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had got lead on 5 out of 6 seats, but in the assembly elections the party could win only 2 seats.
Action on report and then appointment
BJP will first take action on the review report of the defeat in Jharkhand and then will breathe new life into the organization. According to BJP’s Jharkhand in-charge Laxmikant Vajpayee, the state will get a new president in February 2025. Till then the brainstorming is going on afresh.
Current state president Babu Lal Marandi is said to be the frontrunner in the race for Leader of Opposition. Marandi has been the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and has become MLA by winning from Raj Dhanwar seat.
