Finally, during the Peshwa period, the famous leader Nana Fadnavis spent a long time here. It has four doors named Ganesh Darwaja, Narayan Darwaja, Hanuman Darwaja and Maha Darwaja.

A major reason to explore Lohagarh is the trekking done here. Its trekking starts from Malavali Railway Station which is about 10 kilometers away from here. It is said that about 22 rocks have been cut to prepare the ancient Buddhist caves. This is a group of caves built in the second century BC. If you want to reach Lohagarh by road, then its distance from Mumbai is about 100 kilometers and from Pune this distance is 60 kilometers. It is easy to reach here from Mumbai-Pune Expressway. If you are coming here by train, you will have to get down at Malavli railway station. The fort is just 5 kilometers away from the station. However, one can reach here from Lonavala railway station also.
