Politics in the capital has heated up due to the letter war between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The Lieutenant Governor has written a letter to the Chief Minister terming the allegations leveled against him as wrong and has mentioned some old statements of Arvind Kejriwal. The Lieutenant Governor wrote in his letter that I am keeping some examples for your immediate reference in which words we were attacked. Along with this, the Lieutenant Governor also wrote that – You must remember these lines which you spoke in the Delhi Assembly, I cannot convey the tone and intent of these statements on paper.
The entire controversy has arisen ever since Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and some other ministers of his government started attacking the LG saying that he has stopped many schemes. The biggest controversy is regarding the One Time Settlement Scheme proposed by the Kejriwal government. AAP alleges that Deputy Commissioner Pal has tried to stop it by pushing officials. At the same time, Delhi government got angry on stopping Delhi Solar Policy, after which political attacks started against LG.
Key points of LG’s letter
Some of the lines in the record presented by the Lieutenant Governor in reply to the Chief Minister are as follows –
“Abdullah is crazy about someone else’s marriage… where did this LG come from…. Who is the LG, where did the LG come from… LG of what… which LG… who is the Lieutenant Governor… LG has come and sat on our heads…”
LG further mentioned the statements of some ministers and wrote that Atishi had said that “a scam of Rs 1400 crore was done by Delhi LG Vinay Kumar Saxena”.
Saurabh Bhardwaj had said that “LG Vinay Kumar Saxena revealed… the attack on corruption through demonetisation”
AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, “I ask PM Modi why no good honest person was found for the post of LG? Why was Delhi given tainted LG? He will have to be removed, he will have to resign.”
The Lieutenant Governor also said that it would suffice to say that you and your colleagues were restrained from the derogatory statements made against them by the Honorable High Court of Delhi.
Lieutenant Governor asked questions to Kejriwal
LG of Delhi also says that CM Kejriwal has not answered whether any proposal regarding water scheme has been finalized till now or not. Kejriwal has not yet answered whether the alleged ‘plan’ of DJB was finalized on 13.01.2023 or 13.06.2023?
Along with this he also wrote that I advised you to pay the bills with interest of 17 lakh consumers who have paid the bills since 2012 but did not get any response from you.
He also said that the CM did not even answer that how did 10 lakh people keep getting increased bills from 2012 till now and how did you allow this to happen for so many years? LG says, Kejriwal’s silence on these serious issues is sheer acceptance of mismanagement.
During this, the LG reminded Kejriwal of the indecent/abusive language used by him and his ministers/party members against him, as well as against former LGs Najeeb Jung and Anil Baijal. LG says that the scams, corruption, administrative failures and mismanagement that took place in the Delhi government in the last 9 years have started coming to light in the last 2 years.
