Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a major logistics hub of the country. The state has received the ‘Exemplar’ category in the LEADS 2025 report due to the development of expressways, freight corridors, warehousing, Jewar Airport and multimodal hubs.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh is now rapidly strengthening its identity as the country’s largest logistics and connectivity hub. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a large network of expressways, dedicated freight corridors, multimodal logistics hubs, airports and warehousing infrastructure is being built in the state.

Due to this strong infrastructure and better logistics system, Uttar Pradesh has got a place in the “Exemplar” category in the prestigious LEADS 2025 report.

Great performance of UP in LEADS 2025 report

According to the report, Uttar Pradesh’s performance on key parameters such as infrastructure, logistics services, digital systems and regulatory environment has been better than the national average and other landlocked states. Major improvements in road, rail, airport and first-last mile connectivity have made the state a major center of investment and industrial development.

Connectivity strengthened by expressway network

Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Yamuna Expressway developed by the Yogi government are connecting different parts of the state with the National Capital Region and big industrial cities. Apart from this, the Ganga Expressway under construction is being considered an important project in the direction of giving new economic momentum to Eastern, Central and Western Uttar Pradesh. These expressway projects have speeded up goods transportation and greatly strengthened the supply chain of industries.

Industrial capacity increased through dedicated freight corridor

The strategic position of the state has been further strengthened by the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors. The multimodal logistics hub being developed in Dadri, Greater Noida at a cost of about Rs 7 thousand crore is moving towards becoming the major cargo and warehousing center of North India. Along with this, multimodal transport hub at Boraki Railway Station and new logistics parks are being developed in Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Tappal-Bajna.

Logistics cluster will be developed on Ganga Expressway corridor

It is planned to develop integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters in Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj along the Ganga Expressway corridor. These projects will strengthen the manufacturing, warehousing and supply chain network and create new investment opportunities.

Rapid expansion of agri-logistics and warehousing sector

Agri-logistics and warehousing sector is also expanding rapidly in Uttar Pradesh. The storage and distribution system of agricultural products is being improved through multi-commodity cooling centres, cold storage units and modern storage facilities. Modern warehousing facilities are also being created for e-commerce, food processing, retail and export based industries.

Jewar airport will become a big cargo and aviation hub

Noida International Airport is emerging as North India’s largest aviation and cargo gateway. The airport’s direct connectivity to expressways and freight corridors is creating a world-class multimodal logistics ecosystem in Western Uttar Pradesh.

Varanasi Multimodal Terminal to promote river based transport

Varanasi Multimodal Terminal and Inland Waterway Network is also being expanded to strengthen river based logistics in the state. This will promote low-cost cargo transportation and multimodal freight integration.

Investors’ confidence increased due to digital system and investment reforms

The state government has implemented several major reforms to increase investment in the logistics and warehousing sector. The approval process has been made fast and transparent through ‘Nivesh Mitra’ single window system and GIS based digital planning tools. Investment proposals worth thousands of crores of rupees have been approved in the logistics and warehousing sector in the state.

The achievements found in the LEADS 2025 report indicate that Uttar Pradesh is no longer just a landlocked state, but is becoming a major center of supply chain, manufacturing and economic development of the country.
