After Jewel Thief, Kunal Kapoor is back on the screens with Ek Din, an Aamir Khan Productions starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi among others.
Recently, Kunal Kapoor revealed how he hopped into the role. He stated that Aamir Khan reached out to the actor for a special appearance and was keen that he be a part of it. Calling Ek Din a “warm and a sweet film”, he believes that it will connect with the audience!
“Sai always delivers solid performances, and Junaid has done very well too. I just have a special appearance in the film. Aamir reached out and was keen that I be part of it, and it was a role I enjoyed stepping into,” he shares.
He further admired Junaid Khan’s commitment to his work and applauded how he’s come far in the film space. “I’ve seen Junaid as a young boy, and now here he is, not just acting but taking on the responsibility of producing the film as well. He is incredibly focused and hardworking. Only the work matters to him. I think he’s got a long road ahead.”
Ek Din is helmed by director Sunil Pandey, who has previously worked with Aamir Khan and Kunal Kapoor as an assistant director in Rang De Basanti, a cult film that recently clocked 20 years. Looking back at Rang De Basanti, Kunal Kapoor says, “One of the reasons the film is special to me is the director, Sunil,” and adds, “There is something really nice about these full circle moments, where you end up working with the people you started off with.”
Kunal is next set to be seen in Ek din as a guest appearance and the much anticipated Ramayana where he plays the role of Lord Indra. Meanwhile, the gentle tone and striking setting of Ek Din have already struck a chord with the audience. It has generated quite the buzz for its tender tone, emotional storytelling, and scenic visuals that stood out in the trailer as well as the music. Produced under Aamir Khan Productions, Ek Din stars Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan in lead roles. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1.
