In the Monalisa case in Khargone, husband Farman Khan told the police that his wife is not well and she is pregnant, hence it is not possible to appear before the police at the moment. Farman has tried to postpone the appearance on medical grounds.

Relief from High Court, ban on arrest till May 20

Earlier, the High Court had also intervened in this matter and granted protection to the couple from arrest till May 20. After this, this new argument has come forward from the husband’s side, which may delay taking the legal process forward. The controversy began on March 11, when Monalisa sought help at the Thampanoor police station in Thiruvananthapuram. She had alleged that her father wanted to forcibly marry her to his cousin brother, while she wanted to live with Farman. After investigation, Kerala Police clarified, “As per official records, the woman was 18 years and 3 months old at that time.” It was also said that no fake documents were used in the marriage and all the procedures of Panchayat and police were completed properly.
