These deaths occurred at New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) and JK Lone Hospital. Here many women started facing serious problems after cesarean delivery. According to reports, within a few hours of the surgery, many patients suffered a sudden drop in blood pressure, kidney problems, urinary retention and serious infections.

The matter became more heated when allegations of negligence in infection control and treatment came to light. In a report of ‘Times of India’ it has also been claimed that the uterus removed during the operation was also not handled properly. Reportedly, a removed uterus was found lying inside a box. This claim has raised serious questions on the standards of cleanliness and surgical protocols in hospitals.

The families of the victims have accused the hospital administration of delay in treatment and negligence. In one case, relatives alleged that a woman suffered from severe stomach pain and urination problems for hours, but no attention was paid to her until her condition became critical. Another family claimed that despite the condition worsening, the doctors did not shift the patients to bigger hospitals on time.

The Rajasthan government has now initiated disciplinary action against several medical staff members in this matter. Two more doctors and two nursing officers were suspended on Tuesday for alleged negligence, while show cause notices have been issued to senior administrators of the hospital.

A high-level investigation is underway to find out the real cause of the infection, involving experts from AIIMS Delhi and senior health officials of the state. Officials are examining the sterilization system, operation theater protocols, distribution of medicines and post-operation monitoring procedures.

However, officials say that the actual source of infection is not yet clear. Initial investigation has revealed that perhaps medicines are not responsible for this, because similar medicines were used in other places also and no such problem occurred there. Investigators are now focusing on possible lapses in the hospital’s infection-control system.

This tragic incident has intensified the debate on maternal healthcare facilities in Rajasthan. The mourning families are demanding strict action and accountability from the hospital administration. Many affected women are still in critical condition and doctors are trying to stabilize them.
