History of Kumbhalgarh Fort
Kumbhalgarh Fort is known for its vast walls. Its walls spread to 36 kilometers are considered the second longest wall in the world after the great wall of China. Located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, this magnificent fort is about 84 km from Udaipur on the western series of Aravalli mountain. This fort was built by Rana Kumbha, the ruler of Mewar region in the 15th century.

Kumbhalgarh Fort was considered one of the most impervious forts in India due to its strong security and secluded place. This fort is also known as Mewar Fort. This place was the birthplace of the great Rajput king Maharana Pratap. Everything present in this fort was made to avoid the enemy. The seven gates in this fort, 13 mountain peaks and many watch towers made it even more challenging for the enemy. Some historical records show that this fort was sieged only once.

Seven fortified entrances were built to enter this huge fort. The names of these seven gates are Aarat Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ram Pol, Vijay Pol, Nimbu Pol, Paghara Pol and Cannon Food Poll. Apart from this, you can also see Badal Mahal inside it. This palace is present at the highest location of the fort, from where a beautiful view of the surrounding rural areas and clouds can be seen. That is why it is called Badal Mahal. Also, there are more than 360 temples in the premises of this fort, the most famous is the Sri Lakshmi Narayan Temple.

Kumbhalgarh Fort is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage due to its many features and glorious history. The Kumbhalgarh Fort, which is involved in the hill forts of Rajasthan, was selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2013.
