Birmingham: Amidst the noise of the FIFA Football World Cup, the 10th season of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup begins on Friday. This time the tournament is being hosted jointly by England and Wales. A total of 12 teams including India are participating in this. This tournament takes place every 2 years. This time a total of 33 matches will be played in 7 stadiums of both the countries. The final will be held on July 5 at the historic Lord’s ground. 2009 champion England would like to win the title again after 17 years, while Australia is eyeing a record 7th trophy. New Zealand will enter as the defending champion, while the current ODI World Cup champion Indian team will try to win its first T20 World Cup.
What is the format of the tournament?
In the tournament, 12 teams have been divided into two groups of 6-6. Group ‘A’ consists of India, Australia, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa and Bangladesh. Whereas in Group ‘B’ there are teams from host England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland and West Indies. In the group stage, every team will play the other teams once, that is, every team will get 5 matches. The top-2 teams from both the groups will go to the semi-finals and the winning teams there will play the final.
05 matches: Every team will play 5 matches in the group stage.
24 days: This Women’s World Cup will last for a total of 24 days.

The winning team will get Rs 22.4 crore
This time ICC has announced a total prize money of Rs 83.93 crore for the Women’s World Cup, which is 10% more than last time. The team that becomes champion will get Rs 22.4 crore, while the runner-up team will be given Rs 11.2 crore. Both the teams losing in the semi-finals will get Rs 6.46-6.46 crore. Apart from this, the team will get Rs 29 lakh for winning every match of the group stage.

India’s first match with Pakistan
Birmingham: The Indian team, which is trying to win the first title, will play its first match in the tournament against its biggest rival Pakistan. This high-voltage match will be played in Birmingham on June 14.
