Indian batter KL Rahul is reportedly looking to skip the retention offer from IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the mega auction.
According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, the LSG skipper has not shown any commitment to accepting a retention offer but the final decision hasn’t been made yet. All franchises are allowed to retain up to 6 players and the deadline to submit retention list.
Lucknow Super Giants secured playoffs in 2022 and 2023 but finished seventh last season with just 7 wins in 14 games under Rahul’s leadership. He would soon come under severe criticism not only for his captaincy but also for his below-par strike rate of 136.12.
Things only got worse for Rahul when he was seen having a heated argument with franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka who looked infuriated with LSG’s performance in a heavy 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
It will be interesting to see how the things will develop for the Lucknow-based franchise with the auction also being just around the corner.
