A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Aceh province of Indonesia. Here, a loving couple got such a dreadful punishment for kissing each other without marriage and making a live video of it, that the soul would shudder on hearing it.
This young couple was brutally flogged in front of a crowd of hundreds of people for violating Sharia law. This entire incident started when the couple was livestreaming on the social media platform TikTok while sitting inside a car in the month of February.
21-21 canes were showered in front of 100 people in the park
This horrifying scene was seen in Bustansalatin City Park of Banda Aceh. Here a 22-year-old boy and a 25-year-old girl were made to stand on the stage and were caned 21 times on the back. A crowd of more than 100 people had gathered in the park to see this painful and barbaric punishment. The surprising thing was that after seeing the couple writhing in pain, some fundamentalists present in the crowd were demanding from the executioner that they should be caned more rapidly.
Being live on TikTok became a pain in the ass, was arrested in April
Actually, in February, this video of kissing inside the car spread like wildfire on social media. After this video of TikTok livestream went viral, there was huge anger among the local people, after which people lodged a written complaint against the couple with the Sharia authorities. Acting on the complaint, Sharia police arrested the couple in April. At the time of the arrest, the police officers took a tough stand, saying that they had clearly flouted Islamic Sharia laws, which cannot be tolerated.
Spent 4 months in jail, hence sentenced to 25 lashes 21
According to the reports, after their arrest, the love couple was kept in the dungeon for about 4 months. After this, the local Sharia court had declared both of them guilty and ordered 25 lashes each. However, as per the law, both of them had already served 4 months of jail sentence, so the court gave some concession to their punishment and reduced the number of lashes from 25 to 21. Along with this, the court has also seized the mobile phone and USB drive which contained the objectionable video record, and issued an order to completely destroy it.
