Actress Kiara Advani believes her upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups’ could mark a major turning point in her career, saying the role of Nadia has pushed her beyond what she had imagined for herself as an actor.
Speaking at the trailer launch in Bengaluru, Kiara credited director Geetu Mohandas and co-star Yash for trusting her with the character and believing in her potential.
When asked what drew her to Nadia, Kiara said the faith shown by Mohandas and Yash played a major role in her decision.
“I truly believe that Geetu and Yash manifested for me to be Nadia in this film,” she said.
“They saw it in me and believed I was capable of this much before I knew that fearless leap that I was ready to take as an actor,” she added.
Kiara said watching parts of the completed film had made her even more grateful for the trust placed in her. She described Nadia as a particularly special role in her career.
“For giving me a part that I know will be very, very special for me as an actor in my journey. I think there will be a Kiara before Toxic and a Kiara after ‘Toxic’,” she said.
The actress chose not to reveal much about what makes Nadia different from the characters she has played previously, asking audiences to experience the character themselves.
“I cannot wait for the world to experience Nadia. I don’t think I can describe her in one word. So I’m just going to let you go and experience it,” Kiara said.
She also spoke about how working on ‘Toxic’ had raised her expectations for future projects. Addressing Yash and Mohandas, she joked that the duo had set a standard that would be difficult to match.
“You have spoiled me and every actor in this room. On this film, I’m sure you all will agree with me,” she said.
Kiara added that the experience had made the cast more ambitious about the projects they would take up in the future.
“What we’ve tasted is now going to make us want so much more, and we’re just going to be so much greedier with every film we step into,” she said.
The remarks came as the cast gathered to share their experiences of working on the project. Kiara also praised her co-stars, saying it had been rewarding to work alongside them and watch their performances on screen.
She also lauded the technicians who worked behind the scenes, saying the production had aimed far beyond simply meeting expectations.
“Excellence was just the beginning. Like, just the beginning for the baseline,” she said.
Kiara concluded by expressing her excitement for audiences to finally experience the film.
“I can’t wait for you all to witness the magic that everyone has put into this film,” she said.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups’ stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. The film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26, 2026.
