Kiara Advani Says People Expect Women To Be ‘Back In Shape’ After Childbirth: Ab Moti Lag Rahi Hai

Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra are proud parents to their baby girl, Saraayah. The Bollywood couple welcomed their first child on July 15, 2025. Since then, the actors have been fulfilling their parental duties well. In a recent interview, Kiara got candid about the new phase of her life. The actress, who will next be seen in  , opened up about the joys, challenges and surprises of being a mother. Apart from that, she discussed how people expect women to be ‘back in shape’ after childbirth. She pointed out differences in how they react when a woman is pregnant v/s when she delivers a baby.

Kiara Advani on expectations from a new mother

In an interview with Bombay Times,  admitted that motherhood has opened a new side to her, life and her understanding of the world. The actress shared that when a woman is pregnant, people say that she is glowing. However, they react differently when a woman gives birth to a child. “And the minute you’ve had a baby, it changes to, ‘Abhi moti lag rahi hai , thodi yeh lag rahi hain, thodi woh lag rahi hain‘,” she added.

Kiara further stated that a woman is considered ‘devi‘ when she is pregnant, but people expect her to be ‘back in shape’ and back on track after childbirth. The actress feels a woman needs support after delivering a baby. In her opinion, it takes a village not only to raise a baby, but also a mother.

The Bollywood actress believes that a woman needs to be nurtured after she embraces motherhood. Wondering why? Because the same woman is adapting to a new role in her life and figuring out how she will balance her identity and play the role of a mother, daughter, and wife, added Kiara.

Kiara Advani discusses joys and chaos of motherhood

In the same conversation, Kiara stated that nobody prepares a woman for the joys, chaos and surprises that come along with motherhood. “Initially, it’s the chaos inside you because biologically, there are so many changes that you go through, your hormones are crashing and your mental space is somewhere else,” she shared. The actress called it a life changing experience.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kiara will next be seen in Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The actress will be seen alongside Yash, Huma Qureshi, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, and others.
