Congress congratulated the youth
New Delhi [भारत]July 25 (ANI): Following the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid widespread youth-led protests across the country, Congress MP and party’s media and publicity department chairman Pawan Khera on Saturday congratulated the youth. At a press conference, Khera echoed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s comments, calling Dharmendra Pradhan a “symbol of a poor education system”. However, the Congress has said that the fight against the system will continue and also said that this resignation is “the beginning of the end” of the NDA rule.
Khera said, “Hearty congratulations and thanks to the students, youth and unemployed of the country as they have today dismissed the Education Minister from his job. The youth have rejected Dharmendra Pradhan.” He further said, “Dharmendra Pradhan was a symbol of the country’s poor education system, unemployment, corruption in the education department, police brutality and government apathy. The fight was not just against the symbol, but against the system – and it will continue. The fight is against the system that took the lives of 21 children.”
Center attacked over police action on protesters
Additionally, he targeted the central government over the police action on protesters during the Cockroach Janata Party’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20. The Rajya Sabha MP said, “Children were dragged, beaten with sticks. Pellet guns and shock batons were used on them; even leaders who raised their voice were dragged on the streets. We saw Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi being dragged. The youth of the country, Gen Z, were first mocked, but they stood firm. In the end, the government’s ego broke and Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.”
He further said, “Rahul ji said today that Narendra Modi is the past, and the fight is for the future. But the sad thing is that this past is destroying the future of millions of youth. This is the beginning of the end. You (PM Modi) call the youth your ‘friend’, but the youth do not consider you their friend. If Narendra Modi were really a friend, he would not have lathicharged the students, released tear gas shells, or used pellet guns on them. He would not have sided with the youth. Would have stood up, and immediately shown Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan the way out.”

Earlier today, while submitting his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pradhan said he was stepping down in the larger interest of students so that the youth of the country “do not fall into the trap of confusion.” He highlighted his long association with education and reaffirmed his commitment to the aspirations of India’s youth.

The controversy started with the NEET-UG paper being leaked in May, while the re-exam was held on June 21. The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which started as a satirical social media account sparked by CJI Surya Kant’s comments, led the agitation with activist Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar in the national capital demanding Pradhan’s resignation. Congress and the opposition also joined the demand for resignation and protested on the streets of Delhi and outside Parliament.
