The Central Government, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the increase in MSP of 14 Kharif crops for the marketing season 2026-27. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav welcomed the decision and said that this will increase the income of farmers and strengthen the agriculture sector.

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of 14 Kharif crops for the marketing season 2026-27. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, big and effective decisions are being taken continuously in the interest of farmers.

In the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi, the increase in MSP of 14 Kharif crops was approved. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that this decision will prove to be an important step towards increasing the income of farmers and further strengthening the agriculture sector.

Increase in MSP will help in increasing the income of farmers

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Central Government is continuously taking concrete decisions keeping in mind the interests of the farmers. The increase in MSP will directly benefit farmers across the country including Madhya Pradesh. He said that farming can be made profitable by providing better prices to farmers for their crops. The Chief Minister said that the farmers of Madhya Pradesh will also fully benefit from the schemes and decisions of the Central Government. This will bring new energy to the agricultural sector and strengthen the economic condition of farmers.

Many activities are going on in the farmer welfare year 2026

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the year 2026 is being celebrated as Farmer Welfare Year in Madhya Pradesh. Under this, many activities are being organized in the interest of farmers. Every month, exhibitions of modern agricultural equipment are being organized for the farmers. Besides, farmer friendly schemes are being implemented effectively. Farmers are also being trained in new agricultural techniques and advanced farming methods, so that they can get more production and better income by adopting modern farming.

Farmers producing Ragi, Maize, Jowar and Bajra will get special benefit

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in food production. In such a situation, the farmers producing Ragi, Maize, Jowar and Bajra of the state will get special benefit due to increase in MSP. He said that the increase in MSP will promote the cultivation of coarse grains and farmers will get better prices for their produce. This will not only increase the income of farmers but will also strengthen the agriculture sector.

Significant increase in MSP of Kharif crops

The Union Cabinet Committee has significantly increased the MSP of several Kharif crops for the marketing season 2026-27. The MSP of sunflower seeds has been increased the most by Rs 622 per quintal. Apart from this, the price of cotton has been increased by Rs 557 per quintal, Niger seed by Rs 515 per quintal and sesame by Rs 500 per quintal.

Farmers will get better profit on cost

According to the government, farmers are expected to get the highest profit from the moong crop as compared to the cost of production, where the profit will be around 61 percent. After this, 56 percent profit has been estimated in millet and maize and 54 percent profit in pigeon pea.

Farmers are likely to get 51 percent profit on cost in urad. Whereas farmers are expected to get up to 50 percent profit in Ragi, Hybrid Jowar and Paddy. Among oilseed crops, farmers are expected to get about 50 percent profit compared to the cost on peanuts, sunflower seeds, soybean, sesame, niger seed and medium fiber cotton.
