This is the reason why veteran Congress leader Arun Yadav won from here twice and after that he too had to leave this seat. This seat of Madhya Pradesh shares border with Maharashtra, due to which the culture here matches the culture of Maharashtra to a great extent. This area is also situated between the Satpura Mountains from where the Narmada river flows. This Lok Sabha seat is currently held by BJP since 2014.
