According to investigating agencies, Siya Goyal was not in favor of breaking her engagement with her fiance Ketan Aggarwal and eloping with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary. Police claim that this is why a murder conspiracy was allegedly hatched.
New information revealed during interrogation
According to reports, during interrogation, the police asked Chetan Choudhary that if he and Siya loved each other, then why did they not choose to elope and get married. According to police sources, Chetan told that Siya was not ready to break the engagement and run away with him. He believed that doing so would bring dishonor to his family and harm the family’s reputation in society. Police claim that this very thinking allegedly turned the incident in a different direction.
Earlier the case was considered to be a trekking accident
Ketan Aggarwal died on June 18 at Lohgarh Fort near Pune. The incident was initially considered a trekking accident. It was told that Ketan had fallen into a ditch while trekking. At that time, Siya Goyal had also informed the family that Ketan’s foot had slipped and he fell down. On this basis the initial investigation proceeded.
CCTV footage changed the direction of investigation
According to the police, the major turn in the investigation came when the officials started scanning the footage of the ticket counter of Lohgarh Fort and the surrounding CCTV cameras. In the footage, a suspicious person was seen chasing Ketan and Siya. The man was not initially identified, but his activities caught the attention of investigators. After this, the police analyzed the footage in detail and took the investigation of the case forward.
Suspicious person was chasing wearing hoodie
According to a police officer, the person seen in the CCTV was wearing shorts and a hoodie. The officer said that the front part of the hoodie was pulled so low that his face was not clearly visible. Apart from this, he was also wearing a headset over the hoodie. Police say that in another footage, Sia is suddenly seen looking back. At the same time, the person wearing the hoodie also suddenly sits down. This activity further strengthened investigators’ suspicions.
Questions were also raised regarding the weather
Police officials said they also checked meteorological records of June 18. Investigation revealed that the temperature that day was around 33 degrees Celsius. The police found it unusual for a person to walk around wearing a hoodie completely in such hot weather. For this reason, investigators paid special attention to the identity of that person and analyzed his activities.
Identified as Chetan Chaudhary
According to the police, as the investigation progressed, the person seen in the CCTV was identified as Chetan Chaudhary. After this the police alleged that Chetan and Siya had conspired together to murder Ketan Aggarwal. Investigating agencies say that links to the case were added on the basis of digital evidence, CCTV footage and interrogation.
Both the accused are in police custody
Police have arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Both are being investigated on charges related to murder and criminal conspiracy. At present, both the accused have been sent to police custody till June 29. The investigation into the case is ongoing and the police are taking further action based on the available evidence.
