Karnataka tragedy: Six people burnt alive in accident as car, private bus collide in Yadgir district

New Delhi: A massive road accident in Karnataka’s Yadgir district on Friday has killed at least six people and injured others. The accident took place when a car and a private bus collided head-on, triggering a massive blaze. The accident and the resultant fire burnt alive six occupants of the car, while two others from the vehicle were rescued by the local people. Those who are injured have sustained serious burns and have been taken to a hospital. The police said that the incident took place near Devapur in Surpur taluk.

How did the accident take place?

According to preliminary reports, the car was going towards Raichur from Yadgir when it collided with a private bus that was heading to Kalaburagi from Bengaluru. The severe impact of the collision resulted in both vehicles catching fire instantly. The blaze reduced the car to ashes, and all six occupants were charred to death on the spot. Fire and emergency services personnel immediately reached the spot and managed to bring the flames under control.

Spate of accidents in recent times

Yesterday, eight people were killed, and 13 others were injured in a horrific road accident near Chilakaladona, Mantralayam mandal in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district. The accident occurred due to a collision between a Bolero vehicle and a ready-mix lorry. Five victims died on the spot, while three others passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Among the deceased were five women and a young girl.

Earlier, on April 13, a terrible accident in Maharashtra’s Thane district killed 11 people and injured two others. The accident took place after an eco car hit a cement mixer on the Raita bridge in Murbad. The eco car was travelling from Kalyan towards Murbad when it hit a cement mixer, which was travelling in the opposite direction. The severe impact of the collision mauled both vehicles, resulting in the death of 11 people.
