Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor has praised Jaafar Jackson’s performance in the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, calling the film impressive and expressing her admiration with a brief but emphatic “Uff”.
Kareena shared a picture of her television screen on her social media Stories, where Michael was playing, and praised Jaafar’s performance.
“Uff @jaafarjackson #Michael what a film…. What a performance,” she wrote.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael stars Jaafar Jackson as his uncle, music icon Michael Jackson. The film also features Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
Jaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson, a member of the legendary Jackson 5, and Alejandra Jackson.
Released in cinemas on April 24, Michael chronicles key phases of the singer’s life, from his early years with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to the beginning of his solo career. The film has grossed $245 million worldwide, according to the figures cited in the source material.
Michael Jackson remains one of the most influential entertainers of the 20th century. During a career spanning more than four decades, he achieved global fame while breaking racial barriers in American popular music.
He also popularised dance moves including the moonwalk and robot, becoming a defining figure in music, dance and popular culture. Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50 after suffering cardiac arrest linked to an overdose of propofol and benzodiazepines.
The singer was among the most decorated artists in music history, winning 13 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Legend Award and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as numerous American Music Awards, World Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and other honours.
Meanwhile, Kareena is preparing for her upcoming film Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar. The drama marks her first screen collaboration with Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran and is scheduled for release in September.
Set against the backdrop of crime and justice, Daayra features Prithviraj as a police inspector, while Kareena plays a complex and enigmatic character.
