Actors Karan Wahi and Rithvik Dhanjani added a nostalgic twist to their Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations by recreating Smriti Irani’s iconic style from the popular television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi while showcasing their eco-friendly Ganpati idols.
Karan shared a video on social media capturing moments from their celebrations, with the duo seen introducing viewers to team members as they decorated handcrafted Lord Ganesha idols made from clay.
The video uses the title track of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, instantly evoking memories of Smriti Irani’s popular on-screen style of taking viewers around her home and introducing family members on the show.
Sharing the video, Karan described the celebration as their “yearly ritual” and said they celebrate the festival in a way they love.
Fans responded enthusiastically, with many expressing nostalgia over the recreation. One user wrote, “Was waiting for this reel,” while another commented that the video made them feel the Ganpati season had officially begun.
Rithvik has been following a distinctive Ganesh Chaturthi tradition by creating his own eco-friendly Lord Ganesha idol every year instead of purchasing commercially made idols.
Last month, the actor gave fans a glimpse of this year’s handcrafted idol, which he sculpted himself using “shadu maati” (earth clay). An avid devotee of Lord Ganesha, Rithvik has continued the tradition of bringing the idol to life with his own hands.
Sharing a glimpse of his creation, he wrote, “Keep everything aside!!!! Bappa is comingggg!!! #day1 bringing him to life.”
