Recently, the filmmaker has been making headlines for his conversation in Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives’ Neelam Kothari, to whom he opened up about his ‘constant fear’ of being answerable to his kids as a single parent.
Calling it a ‘modern family situation’, the producer thanked Neelam for opening up.
Karan Johar’s ‘Constant Fear’ Of Being ‘Answerable’ To Kids
In the recent episode, Neelam spoke about her divorce with businessman Rishi Sethia, which made Karan Johar emotional. He said, “I was pretty much a large part of that phase of your (Neelam) life. That really moved me because I remember those days so clearly. I really teared up, I was actually connecting to it on an emotional level. You spoke about your daughter and that’s also something that struck a chord with me. My constant fear is that I also have to deal with those questions from my own children, about my circumstances and that I have a modern family situation.”
He said, “They will find out things and I will have to be answerable. Being a single parent, I know I am answerable to my children about so many aspects. Thank you for sharing that Neelam, it was really beautiful.”
In the episode, Neelam Kothari opened up about her divorce and recalled coming up home and finding her daughter unusually quite. She said, “I came from work, and Ahana was with her friends. Normally, they are always jumping around, screaming, and shouting. But, this time, there was pin-drop silence. Ahana came to me and said, ‘Mumma, you never told me you were divorced.’ I just died. I was stumped. I had no words. I told Ahana, ‘First of all, how do you know?’ She said, ‘You’re a celebrity, so my friends and I were googling you. The first thing that came up was that you were divorced. You were married.”
For the unversed, Karan Johar welcomed twins Yash & Roohi in February, 2017 via surrogacy. They were named after Karan’s parents father Yash and mother Hiroo.
