Diwali is the festival of lamps, but if care is not taken then these lamps destroy the houses. One such case has come to light from Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Where three people have died due to fire caused by lamps. As soon as the police and fire department teams got information about the incident, they reached the spot, but by then everything was burnt to ashes. After the incident, the police took possession of the dead bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
Businessman Sanjay Shyam Dasani lived with his wife and maid in Pandu Nagar area under Kakadev police station area of Kanpur. On the night of Diwali, the businessman celebrated the festival by performing puja at home with his family. Along with keeping lamps outside the house, lamps are also kept in the temple inside the house throughout the night. Businessman Sanjay’s family had also placed lamps outside the temple and house after the puja.

After celebrating Diwali, Sanjay Dasani, his wife and maid all three slept. Late in the night, around 3 o’clock, the fire from the temple lamp engulfed the curtains and within no time the entire house caught fire. Due to being asleep, the three people present in the house did not even know about the fire and then all three died tragically due to the fire. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire department vehicles reached the spot and started relief work.

Giving information about the case, DCP Dinesh Tripathi said that as soon as information about the fire was received, the fire department vehicle reached the spot and after extinguishing the fire, Sanjay Shyam Dasani, his wife Kanika and maid Chhavi were taken to the hospital. After examination, the doctors in the hospital declared all three dead. According to the information, all three died due to suffocation due to the smoke of the fire. The police have taken possession of all the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The police has started investigating the matter.
