The biggest Ekadashi of the year this month
The biggest Ekadashi fast of the year will be observed in June 2026, which is called Nirjala Ekadashi. This time Nirjala Ekadashi is on 25th June, Thursday. It is believed that by fasting on this Ekadashi, one attains the virtue of observing Ekadashi throughout the year. According to Mahabharata, Pandu’s son Bhim used to fast on this only Ekadashi, hence its name is also Bhimseni Ekadashi. In this fast, there is a rule to fast without drinking water.
Coincidence of Somvati Amavasya in Adhik month
There is a coincidence of Somvati Amavasya on the last day of Adhik month of Jyeshtha i.e. on 15th June. Such a coincidence happens once in many decades. In this auspicious occasion, the special importance of bathing in the river and donating to the needy has been explained. On this day, devotees come to take bath in the holy rivers of the country. On this day, the Adhik month of Jyeshtha will also end.
