Shivamogga (Karnataka) [India], April 30 (Desk): Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda lashed out at the INDIA bloc over the ‘fake video’ featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah and asked how can a Chief Minister and a national party circulate a deep fake video.
The matter pertains to the alleged ‘fake’ video, in which the Home Minister is purportedly heard saying that the BJP stands against the reservations in the country. However, the BJP has since flagged the viral clip as ‘fake’.
Nadda slammed the Opposition saying they don’t have any agenda and are doing “divisive” politics, adding that most of the leaders are facing one charge or the other.
“What Opposition have to say, what is their agenda? What is their hidden agenda? It becomes our responsibility to make you aware what is their agenda. Their agenda is only one, Prime Minister Modi says we will remove corruption, they say we save corruption…no other agenda. Nationally, when you look at all political parties, all are involved in some case or the other,” Nadda said at an event in Karnataka’s Shivamogga on Tuesday.
“Which type of politics they are doing? They are doing politics which is divisive in nature. A few days ago, there was a video, and they (Opposition) were trying to create an impression that SC, ST, OBC, an environment was being created that ‘they should be scared of BJP. When they will come, your reservation will go’,” he added.
Hitting out at the Congress party and INDIA bloc, Nadda accused them of making a ‘deep fake’ video viral and asked people, if such parties should be given a chance.
“What they (Opposition) did, they came up with a fabricated video…the people of India knew the vicious and divisive design of the INDI Alliance and UPA. The media reports also understood and tried to expose the INDI Alliance. They came with a deep fake video,” Nadda said.
He added, “What’s the sad part of it? This video was uploaded from Telangana CM Revath Reddy’s phone. See what type of people they are, people who are state presidents, who are Chief Ministers, if behave like this…This INDI alliance, all partners together tried to make it viral. Do you subscribe such people to be brought forward? What type of people they are? What type of politics they are doing?”
Taking a jibe at the Opposition, the BJP president said that the Opposition leaders are “actually in deep depression” as they are seeing BJP crossing 400 plus seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier, on Monday, the Delhi Police summoned the Telangana CM in connection with the ‘fake’ video involving the Union Home Minister, sources said. CM Reddy was asked to appear before Delhi Police’s IFSO unit (Cyber Unit) on May 1 along with his mobile phone.
The development comes as Assam Police on Monday arrested Reetom Singh. This was the first arrest in connection with the doctored video circulating on social media and allegedly being shared by Congress leaders.
The video, which has sparked controversy and allegations of misinformation, has prompted the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to file a complaint seeking action against those responsible for it.
Earlier, the BJP’s Telangana unit filed a complaint against CM and the Congress’ state chief Revanth Reddy at the Cyber Crime police station, accusing the party of fabricating and morphing the speech of Amit Shah.
The complaint stated that the Telangana Congress Pradesh Congress Party, on its official X handle, posted a ‘morphed’ and ‘fabricated’ video of Amit Shah (Desk)
