This election has become very high profile because of Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar contesting in Madhya Pradesh. He is contesting from Dimani assembly seat of Morena district. He is one of those ministers who served in the first and second terms of the Narendra Modi government. Congress has fielded Ravindra Singh Tomar against Narendra Singh on Dimani seat.
Narendra Singh Tomar was born on June 12, 1957 in Morena district. Tomar achieved graduation level education. He remained involved in politics even during his student life and was elected student union president. After this he was also elected councilor in Gwalior Municipal Corporation. After this Tomar continued achieving success. He later became the divisional president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Tomar was made the state minister of Yuva Morcha in 1984 and in 1991 he became the state president of the party.
Became MLA for the first time in 1998
Tomar contested the Gwalior Assembly seat elections for the first time in 1993 but he was defeated. However, after 5 years in 1998, he managed to reach the Assembly for the first time. In the 2003 elections, Tomar again won from Gwalior and also became a cabinet minister. First Uma Bharti, then Babulal Gaur and her Shivraj Singh Chouhan were in the cabinet.
Then in his first Lok Sabha election in 2009, Tomar contested from Morena parliamentary constituency and emerged victorious. Even after joining central politics, he remained associated with the politics of the state. In the year 2012, he was again handed over the chair of the state president of the party. During his tenure as state president, BJP again won the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh in 2013. After the victory, the pairing of Narendra Singh and Shivraj Singh was much talked about.
Won from Gwalior in 2014, became minister at the Center
In the 2014 general elections, he contested from Gwalior seat and won a big victory. When Modi government was formed at the Centre, he became a Union Minister. The Ministers of Steel, Mines, Drinking Water and Sanitation were made the Ministers of Labor and Employment. On July 5, 2016, in the expansion of Modi cabinet, he was made the Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation. After the victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he again became the Agriculture Minister in the Modi government.

The party has expressed great confidence in Narendra Singh Tomar, who is counted among the most trusted leaders of PM Narendra Modi, and fielded him in the assembly elections. He is contesting from Datia seat of Morena district. He stays away from statements. However, just before the elections, he came into limelight due to an alleged video of his son Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar. A deal worth crores is being talked about in this video.

In the election affidavit filed regarding the elections, Narendra Singh Tomar has declared his total assets to be Rs 2.7 crores. In this, his movable assets are worth Rs 1.3 crore and his immovable assets are worth around Rs 1.4 crore. Whereas in his affidavit filed in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he had declared his assets as Rs 2 crore 30 lakh.
