This trust decides who will get the job, who will get how much salary and how the arrangements for the temple will be run. After the recent case of theft of offerings came to light, a major reshuffle is taking place in this trust, so that everything remains clean and reliable from now on.
What does one have to do to become a priest in Ram temple?
Many people think that becoming a priest in a temple would probably be an easy job. The truth is that this is one of the most difficult recruitments. Whenever there is a vacancy for priests, the Trust regularly issues advertisements. Last time when recruitment for 2023 was released, around 3,000 people had applied. Out of these, only 200 people were called for interview on the basis of merit and finally only 20 people were selected. That means out of every 150 candidates, only one got the job.
What happens in an interview?
According to media reports, the interview of shortlisted people is held in Karsevakapuram. Famous saints and scholars of the country sit in the panel. No common questions are asked here. Even after passing the interview, they are not put on duty directly. Selected candidates are given residential training for six months, that is, during this time they stay in the temple premises only. Accommodation and food is completely free, on top of that, Rs 2,000 is also given as pocket money every month. The syllabus of the training has been prepared by the great saints themselves. Posting is available only after completion of training. Those who do not make it to the final list are also not disappointed, they are given a certificate, so that whenever the seat becomes vacant in the future, they get the first chance.
How much salary do the priests of Ram temple get?
high priest: Around Rs 38,500 per month
Assistant Priest: Rs 33,000 to 36,000 per month

Are only priests admitted in the temple?
The Ram temple complex is not limited to worship only. A complete system of heavy construction work, technical maintenance and management is carried out there and professionals are required for this on a regular basis. Recently, there was recruitment for engineer posts for the ‘International Ram Katha Museum’ associated with the trust. This recruitment was on a two-year contract, which can be extended if the work is good. Candidates with degree or diploma were considered eligible for this and the salary was kept between Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 per month, depending on the qualification of the candidate.
Management and security staff are also recruited
To manage the stores, stores and daily arrangements of the temple, there are posts like Kothari, Bhandari and Store Manager, who get a monthly salary of Rs 19,000 to 24,000. The work of counting and verification of offerings is done through private agencies or contract staff, whose salary is around Rs 20,000 per month.
