ED’s action amid the election atmosphere in Jharkhand created a stir when on Tuesday, ED raided the residences of IAS officer Vinay Kumar Choubey and Excise Department’s Joint Secretary Gajendra Singh and many other close relatives in Ranchi. He is accused of making changes in the excise policy of Jharkhand as part of a conspiracy. After this, tenders for local and foreign liquor were also given to the syndicate people in the state and in Jharkhand, country liquor with duplicate holograms was sold without accounting.
Actually, ED is investigating the liquor scam that took place in Chhattisgarh between the year 2019 and 2022. Due to the investigation, ED came to know that during the tenure of the then Bhupesh Baghel government of Chhattisgarh, IAS officers, senior officials of Excise Department and businessmen had committed a scam through an illegal syndicate. He is accused that from the year 2019 to 2022, illegal liquor was sold from government liquor shops with duplicate holograms, due to which the government has suffered a loss of crores of rupees in revenue.
EOW had registered the case
After this, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Raipur had registered a case in connection with the liquor scam allegedly worth crores of rupees in Chhattisgarh. In this case, EOW Raipur first investigated the case based on the statement of Vikas Singh, a resident of the capital Ranchi and then registered the case. At the time this scam was committed, there was a Congress government in the state and Bhupesh Baghel was the Chief Minister. .
Jharkhand assembly elections
Now there are elections in Jharkhand next month, for which voting will be held in two phases. Voting will be held for the first phase on 13th November and for the second phase on 20th November and the election results will be declared on 23rd November, for which all the parties have started making bets and have also started campaigning.
