A sensational incident has come to light from Gumla district of Jharkhand. Here a CRPF jawan committed suicide by shooting himself while on duty. The deceased soldier was a resident of Himachal Pradesh. He had returned to duty from 15 days leave. The soldier had shot with his AK-47 rifle. The officials who reached the spot sent the body of the deceased soldier for post-mortem.
CRPF jawan Sanjay Kumar, who committed suicide by shooting, was a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Sanjay Kumar was doing duty in the camp of CRPF 218 battalion located in Seelam in Gumla district of Jharkhand. His suicide in the CRPF camp created a stir there. As soon as the information about the suicide by the jawan was received, Gumla District SP Harvinder Singh, SDPO Manish Chandralal along with CRPF officials reached the camp.
Jawan Sanjay Kumar was a resident of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
Information about the suicide of the jawan was given to his family by CRPF officials. Deceased soldier Sanjay Kumar was a resident of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It is not clear why the soldier committed suicide and under what circumstances. At present, Gumla district police as well as CRPF officials have started investigating the entire matter.
Shot himself with AK-47 rifle
Sanjay Kumar, posted as Havildar GD in CRPF 218 battalion, committed suicide by shooting himself with an AK-47 rifle. There was a commotion in the camp at the sound of firing from the guard room. Fellow soldiers who reached the spot saw Sanjay soaked in blood. Sanjay died on the spot. Fellow soldiers present at the spot informed their senior officers about the incident. The officers who reached the spot sent the body of deceased Sanjay to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, where a team of 3-member doctors will conduct the post-mortem in the presence of the magistrate.
Rajasthan soldier had committed suicide earlier also
This is not the first case of suicide in Jharkhand by a CRPF jawan engaged in Naxal operations. Earlier, CRPF 158 battalion soldier Jagdish Prasad Meena, posted on sentry duty at Kekrang picket in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, had committed suicide by shooting himself with his own service INSAS rifle. Deceased CRPF jawan Jagdish Prasad Meena was originally a resident of Gharthana area of Tonk district of Rajasthan.
