15 June 2026 is going to be a historic date in the aviation sector of North India. After a long wait, finally commercial flights are going to start from Noida International Airport i.e. Jewar Airport. With this announcement, the National Capital Region (NCR) and Western Uttar Pradesh are going to get a new center of modern, world-class and hi-tech air connectivity. Noida International Airport (NIA) has officially announced that commercial flights will start operating from June 15. The first flight will be operated by Indigo Airlines, while Akasa Air and Air India Express are also set to start their services soon.

Jewar Airport is being considered a major part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious infrastructure vision. This airport has emerged as a game changer project in the series of rapid development of expressways, defense corridors, industrial clusters and logistics networks in Uttar Pradesh in the last few years. Experts believe that Jewar Airport is not just an airport but can prove to be a big infrastructure hub that will give a new direction to the economy of Western Uttar Pradesh.

Green signal for operation after BCAS approval
The airport operations begin following the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and receipt of Aerodrome Security Program (ASP) approval from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). This approval is being considered as an indication that the airport’s security system, operation system and all technical standards are completely ready.
Indigo’s first flight, more airlines will join soon
The first commercial flight from Jewar Airport will be of IndiGo. After this, Akasa Air and Air India Express will also start their services. However, detailed information about which cities flights will operate in the initial phase will be released soon. Experts associated with the aviation sector say that after the opening of Jewar Airport, the increasing pressure on Delhi Airport can be reduced to a great extent.
Passengers will get world class facilities
Noida International Airport has been developed with modern technology and multimodal connectivity. Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, facilities like fast check-in system, smart terminal, high speed connectivity and easy transit have been developed in the airport. Its connectivity with Yamuna Expressway, Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressway, dedicated freight corridor and proposed multimodal logistics hub makes it strategically important.
Trade, tourism and investment will get big benefits
Experts believe that the opening of the airport will open new opportunities for trade, tourism and investment in western Uttar Pradesh. Especially Noida, Greater Noida, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura and surrounding districts are expected to get direct benefits. Airport being developed on net-zero emissions model
Noida International Airport has been developed as a greenfield project. Developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), this airport is being developed on the basis of sustainable design and environment-friendly operation model. The airport aims to work on a net-zero emission model in the future, which can make it among the most modern and eco-friendly airports in the country.
Capacity of 7 crore passengers in future
Currently, the airport is starting with one runway and one terminal, which will have an annual capacity of about 1.2 crore passengers. But under the master plan, it will be expanded significantly in future. Many runways and terminals will be developed here in the coming years, after which its capacity can increase to 7 crore passengers annually. With this, Jewar Airport can make its place among the largest aviation hubs of the country.
