According to the news, he compared this experience to his previous struggle with drug addiction. In a YouTube video, the ‘Save Me’ singer talked about stress eating and how easily old addictive habits can resurface.
“I was overeating for the last three or four days and I found myself stress eating. And then, what happened was that the drug addict in me came out,” Jelly Roll said while chatting with a fan.
Comparison of overeating addiction with drug addiction
Recalling being tempted after a show, the singer said that one sweet soon forced him to eat too much. He said, “We had a show at a place where I love catering. They had a dairy-free skillet cookie. I don’t eat anything like that. I’m like a drug addict. You can’t have that, because if I eat one, I eat two. I eat four.”
He continued, “Later that night, I was having peanut butter fluff at a taco truck. Next, we were at a rest stop, and I was looking for a chocolate bar. I was thinking, ‘Damn, so fast, now I’ve eaten 2,000 extra calories today that I didn’t even realize’.”
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Deford, said the experience reminded him of drug-related behavior. “It tastes like blood,” he said, and E! According to the News, he also said that it would “take me another full week to get it completely out of my mouth.”

The 41-year-old singer, who has lost nearly 300 pounds during her weight loss journey, said it is difficult for her to maintain a balance even with healthy eating. The singer also explained why cheat meals are not an option for him. “People say, ‘Oh, you can have one for a cheat meal,'” he said. I used to say, ‘You can have one for cheat meals.’ I can’t take it.’ Because this could be a five-day food bender for me.”
Talking about food addiction, Jelly Roll emphasized that this struggle often goes unnoticed. “People don’t understand that,” he said. “I tell people, ‘You wouldn’t have become the person you are without a mental health problem.’ This is something very deep.” E!
