Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay, is all set to make his directorial debut with Sigma. Starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, the movie is set to release in theatres on July 31, 2026. Ahead of that, Jason has commenced the promotions for his film. Speaking to a magazine, Jason opened up about his decision to make a career in filmmaking. The debutant director revealed that his parents, Vijay and Sangeetha, his sister Divya Sasha and his friends supported his decision to join the film industry.

In an interview with Ananda Vikatan, Sigma director Jason said, “I spoke to everyone – my parents, my sister and my friends. They were all extremely positive, and that gave me a lot of energy. It was then that I truly realised how much faith they had in me.” The debutant filmmaker further recalled Vijay Sethupathi and Soori wishing him well when Sigma went on floors. He also received blessings of many people.

The young director added that he already has ideas for his future projects. With two to three good story ideas in mind, Jason plans to start developing them after arrives on the big screen. As the conversation continued, TN CM Vijay’s son shared he was interested in cinema since a young age. Jason recalled visiting shooting spots since he comes from a film family. Additionally, he watched many premiere shows too.
“Watching films has always been one of my main pastimes. And now, we have the opportunity to watch films from around the world, across all genres,” he added.

further stated whenever he watches a film, he observes how the story has been told. For him, it’s like a game. When he talks about a film with his friends who haven’t watched it, Jason immediately begins narrating the story. “I think that was my starting point – when I began telling stories like that,” the Sigma director shared.

Meanwhile, Jason’s Sigma has been scheduled to release on July 31. However, a NDTV report states that the film is apparently pushed to August due to s release on July 23. For the unversed, the H Vinoth directorial will be Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s last big screen project. It was earlier set for a theatrical release on January 9 this year.
