Jana Nayagan: TN Cyber Crime Wing Arrests Mastermind, 18 Others Linked In Leak Of CM Vijay’s Final Film

In January 2026, TVK founder and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister  final film, Jana Nayagan, was due to be released. The Tamil film, directed by H Vinoth, ran into censor trouble and the release date kept getting pushed back. On April 9, 2026, clips of Jana Nayagan were leaked and later the full movie was available online on piracy websites. Now, the mastermind behind the leak and 18 others have been arrested by the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing in connection with the case; the producers, KVN Productions, also registered a complaint with the police.

A report in The New Indian Express states that the alleged mastermind behind the leak and online circulation of Jana Nayagan was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing. According to the police, the main accused had been absconding and was tracked down with “extensive digital forensic analysis, technical surveillance and intelligence-led operations.”

Several persons of interest in the leak of Jana Nayagan have been arrested as the total number of people held in the case now comes to 19 individuals. Further investigation into the Jana Nayagan leak and online distribution is under way. Last week in Chennai, were arrested after being linked to the Jana Nayagan leak. One of the arrested was a software engineer, a 34-year-old named Balaji. They were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act, the Copyright Act and the Cinematograph Act.

The H Vinoth film is said to be a remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, which was released in 2023. Besides CM Vijay, the cast of Jana Nayagan includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. The Tamil film is stuck because it has not been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its alleged depiction of the armed forces and a few scenes that could hurt religious sentiments.

Earlier, it was rumoured that Jana Nayagan would release in time for Thalapathy Vijay’s birthday on June 22. However it was revealed that the action thriller  (2017) co-starring Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is releasing around his birthday. Directed by Atlee, the Tamil film features Vijay in a triple role as a father and two sons. Mersal will have a limited theatrical re-release on June 19.
