The story of the film keeps the theme of women empowerment at the center. Vijay plays the role of Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, who is the guardian of Vijay Lakshmi aka Viji (Mamita Baiju). While the emotional relationship between the two is firmly established in the first part, the entry of Bobby Deol’s dangerous character Amrish Pujari aka John Hamlar creates tension in the story. After the interval, the story goes into a long flashback, where Thalapathy Vetri Kondan and Amrish Pujari are seen as police officers. After an incident, Amrish becomes a villain and Thalapathy gets trapped in a crime he did not commit. Returning to the present, the story progresses with Thalapathy’s fight against modern weapons, robotic technology and a larger political conspiracy. Although some parts in the first half of the film are reminiscent of Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Telugu film ‘Bhagwanth Kesari’, but later the story tries to take its own direction.

How is the performance of the star cast of ‘Jana Nayakan’?
- The strongest pillar of the entire film is Thalapathy Vijay. He completely dominates every moment of action, emotional scenes, powerful dialogues and fan service. This film takes full advantage of his stardom.
